"VIDA" Art collection opening at Orange Moon Salon

On November 3rd, Orange Moon Salon celebrated Dia de los Muertos with an art show entitled "VIDA". The art collection is a celebration of the life of our ancestors.

For those who might not know, the day of the dead is a celebration of life. When children dance with caricatures of death, eat skull sugar molds and learn to respect that life is brief, they learn there is a circle to life and to not fear death and then are free to enjoy and appreciate every moment.

To honor the event, Ruth gathered some of her favorite upcoming artists from through out the bay area. They included Soulstiz, Lisa Pena, Elba Raquel, Betty Raquel, Betty Proper, Liliana Herrera, Margeau Banebetenoir, Hi.Irie, Sureyoumust, Abstrack B, Orange Moon stylist Catrina Seed, Ruth and her daughter Kumiko May.

The musical backdrop was provided by the very talented DJ Deeandroid. The wonderful eats provided by Orange Moon's neighbors, the Butcher Shop with the awesome help of Madeline.

The weather was beautiful for the occasion as were the guests. We look forward to the next show, but this show will run til the end of the year, when we will be able to start the new cycle with new art. Feel free to come to the salon to check out the art, purchase some art and support these talented ladies.
